A few points:

• We're talking closely with both ACE and AWF to help ensure that we're targeting different niches at the fund level. Our strategy (including the excerpt you quoted) is based, in part, on those conversations.
• AWF's grantmaking strategy has become more specific over the past year or two, e.g. see their strategy and their thoughts around absorbing more funding. AWF's grantmaking is more focused and targeted than it was a few years ago; in contrast, BluePerch remains big-tent specifically to address any opportunities for impactful grants left by other funders.
• We intend to have faster turnaround than both ACE and AWF.
• More broadly, and in my own opinion, if we want the animal advocacy movement to emerge as a social force comparable to, say, the environmental movement and the gender equality movement, then there should be much more funding availability and diversification than currently exists.
