I was a teacher, and military firefighter in Brazil, where each "oops!" in teaching and learning led me to search for deeper answers. And today, I seek to build something like effective gentleness and more effective forms of cooperation.
I liked it! It got me thinking about writing something regarding a personal filter for deciding whether an investment is worth it for me personally, or if it’s just a matter of fear.
That said, given my lmy two neurons, I find it very difficult to invest based on those criteria, especially due to certain mental blocks; I really just can't see it that way.
"but if we want to really understand the world, it’s worth seeking the truth and trying to become clearer thinkers." In what context and to what extent?
"I fervently hope that one day we will be able to save everyone. In the meantime, it is irresponsible to pretend that we aren’t making life and death decisions with the allocation of our resources."
How to not produce overthinking?
It was very brave of you to attack your own pack, so to speak. Vegans are my heroes, but sometimes it seems like things get blown out of proportion.
Are we the most destructive and privileged? Yes. But also the most empathetic, right? A man can save 10,000 shrimp, but a shrimp cannot save a man.
The proportion of human species relative to the total number of species that have ever lived on Earth is practically zero (less than 0.00001%). Perhaps we should invest more in this species that possesses an infinitely higher level of consciousness.
I know this might be a bit of a crazy question, but it could reveal interesting things: would you save a million shrimp or your mother? Perhaps with that as a basis, we can rethink the investment in veganism.
