Friends of the Earth is seeking a consulting team to strengthen the monitoring, evaluation, and learning capacity of our Climate-Friendly School Food Program. You will develop sound evaluation approaches, manage complex datasets, and translate data into actionable insights that shape program strategy and advocacy.

Our School Food Program works to shift K–12 school meals toward more plant-forward and organic menus to protect the environment and improve student health. We utilize direct technical assistance to school districts, policy advocacy, plant-based value chain development, research, student-led campaigns, and resources for foodservice operators.
About the position
The consulting team will be responsible for:
- Leading MEL methodology and quality assurance, including participating in an external assessment and developing a prioritized workplan
- Supporting evaluation of a seven-district pilot testing strategies to increase student selection of plant-based and plant-forward entrees
- Conducting recurring program analyses: annual menu monitoring, district purchasing analysis, student selection studies, and USDA Foods analysis
- Managing, cleaning, validating, and analyzing complex datasets while operating and quality-assuring AI-supported analytical tools
- Strengthening MEL workflows and data organization to make processes more efficient and reproducible
- Producing written reports and visualizations that translate findings for program staff, funders, and advocates
We are seeking a team with combined expertise: a Senior Consultant (5+ years in evaluation/research with strong quantitative and programming skills) who leads methodology and quality assurance, and a Data Analyst (1–3 years' experience with demonstrated proficiency in data cleaning, analysis, and visualization using statistical/programming tools) who manages datasets and conducts analyses. Experience with K–12 school nutrition, foodservice, food systems, or advocacy settings is preferred but not required.
This is a combined estimated 850-hour consulting engagement from November 2026 through June 30, 2027, with an anticipated budget of 80,000–100,000 USD. Flexibility to participate in district meetings during U.S. business hours is required. Integrated team proposals are preferred; individual applications for either role will be considered.
